On Tuesday at 8:15 a.m., Southwest Middle School and members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion will present a 30-minute program honoring the nation’s veterans, past and present. It will be held in the Southwest gymnasium.

The public is invited and encouraged to attend, as we remember and celebrate the service and sacrifice of members of our nation’s military branches. All Southwest students will be in attendance, as part of their instruction regarding Veterans Day as a national holiday.

Jim Doty, commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 447, will be the guest speaker, and members of Freeborn County’s local veterans organizations will participate in the presentation of colors and honor guard. The Southwest eighth-grade band and seventh- and eighth-grade choirs will perform music they have been preparing for the event.
