8 A.L. wrestlers move on at Christmas Tourney

The Tigers are now in seventh place after the second round of wrestling Saturday in Rochester. Albert Lea fell two places and now trails Bismarck, N.D. and Bloomington Kennedy.

Apple Valley leads with 241 1/2 points while Simley is No. 2 with 211 1/2.

Trey Hable is wrestling for fifth place after he defeated Tyler Isaacson, of Forest Lake, 3-1. Hable lost 2-1 to Prior Lake’s Brady Johnshoy. Hable squares off against Ryan Blees of Bismarck, N.D. for fifth place.

Cory Hansen lost 4-3 to Drew Fleming of Watertown-Mayer in the semifinals. Following the semifinal loss, Hansen fell to Simley’s Dylan Wright 5-4 in double overtime. Hansen will wrestle for firth place against Eric Bauer, from Hastings.

Cody Hansen earned a 5-0 decision against Drew Spaulding of Bismarck, N.D. to advance to the finals. Hansen will meet Justin Lavelle of Apple Valley as he tries for his third consecutive title.

Adam Kermes, at 152 lost his consolation match with Max Poikonen 4-2 in overtime. It marked the third overtime loss for the Tigers.

Matt Tiegs was pinned 1:43 into his semifinal match with Tyler Lehmann, of Apple Valley, and lost his consolation match against Torrie Morgan when Morgan pinned Tiegs at 4:46. Tiegs will wrestle T.J. Lewis, who Tiegs pinned earlier in the tournament, for fifth place.

At 215, Ethan Reed lost to Alex Lashomb, of Simley, 7-4. Reed also lost his next match in the wrestlebacks as Hoss Roemer, of Wabash-Kellog. Reed will wrestle Ryan Kessler, of St. Michael-Albertville, for fifth place.
