Betty Waage

Funeral services for Betty Jean Waage, 89, of Ellendale will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Lutheran Church of Ellendale. The Rev. Arne Halbakken will officiate. Interment will be at First Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Betty died Sunday, Nov. 30, 2008, at the New Richland Care Center.
Betty Jean Waage was born on Oct. 25, 1919, to Gaylord and Lena (Rasmussen) Anderson in Alden. Betty attended Alden High School. On March 27, 1937, she was united in marriage to Loren (Bud) Waage in Des Moines, Iowa. Betty resided in Des Moines, Albert Lea and Kiester before settling in the Ellendale area for 59 years. She worked at North Central Plastics for several years in the 1960s and then was employed in the cafeteria at the Ellendale School for 16 years. Betty enjoyed cooking and baking, watching westerns on television and Bible study with her friends. She and Bud enjoyed traveling to Tuscon, Ariz., and spending time with their family and grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband Loren (Bud); children, Curtis (Judy) Waage of Geneva, Gretta Lageson of Ellendale, Dale (Jani) Waage of Ellendale, Mary (Vern) Busho of Nisswa, Linda (Danny) Wagner of New Richland, and Cynthia (Chuck) Crabtree of New Richland; daughter-in-law, Carol Waage of Tuscon, Ariz.; 22 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Gaylord and Lena Anderson; son, Michael Waage; son-in-law, Eugene Lageson; sisters, Evelyn Woodside and Cleo Casebolt; brother, Donald Anderson; sister in infancy, Sylvia; sisters-in-law, Audres Tufte and Mavis Kain; brothers-in-law, Ivan Casebolt, Gary Woodside, Orville Tufte, Edgar Bachtle, and Mark Kain; mother and father-in-law, Eric and Tillie Waage.
