Jennie Mae McGill, 96, of Wells, died Friday, Dec. 5, 2008, at Parkview Care Center in Wells. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesdayat the United Methodist Church in Wells. The Rev. Paul Woolverton will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in the Alden Cemetery.
Jennie Mae Woollard was born July 22, 1912 in Alden, the daughter of Forest and Agnes (Barr) Woollard. She enjoyed childhood growing up on a farm; she was a member of the Alden 4-H Club. She attended Alden School where she played on the girls’ basketball team. On June 22, 1938, she was united in marriage to Albert H. McGill in Northwood, Iowa. She worked for Banquet Foods for 17 1/2 years, retiring in 1972. She also worked for Del Monte Foods. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Wells, UMW and the VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed crocheting and embroidering items for the United Methodist Women, gardening, cooking, sewing, fishing, and traveling, but her greatest love was her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Jennie Mae McGill is survived by sons: Chester (Faith) of Apache Junction, Ariz., Richard (Deanna) of Stacy and Dale (Sue) of Apple Valley; daughter Karen (Mike) Segar of Ham Lake; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; sister Amanda Kennedy of Albert Lea; brother-in-law Lawrence (Ethel) McGill of Albert Lea; sister-in-law Lulu Stecker of Longview, Wash.; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Albert; daughter Joyce; son Garry; four brothers; and three sisters.
