Doris Breiholz

Memorial services for Doris Darlene Breiholz, 77, of Albert Lea will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, at First Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Dwight Netzer and St. John’s chaplain, the Rev. Jeff Laeger-Hagemeister, will officiate. Interment will be prior to the service at 1 p.m. at Graceland Cemetery. Friends may greet the family one hour prior to the service at the church. 
Doris died Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2009, at St. John’s Lutheran Home.
Doris Darlene Breiholz was born on March 16, 1931, to Eman and Elsie Maresh in Kimball, S.D. She grew up in Kimball, S.D., and graduated from high school there. Doris graduated from Yankton College with a teaching degree. On June 1, 1958, she was united in marriage to Robert Breiholz in Ames, Iowa. Doris was an elementary teacher in Ames for several years until raising her family became her priority. The couple lived in Sleepy Eye from 1968 until 2001 when they moved to Albert Lea. Doris made and sold crafts on consignment and was also a published freelance writer of children’s stories. She enjoyed reading, church activities, walking, traveling, collecting antiques, music, participating in the GFWC Women’s Club and spending time with her six grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Robert, of Albert Lea; children: Scott (Peggy) Breiholz of Forest, Va., Todd (Sheryl) Breiholz of Woodbury, and Jody (Brad) Kirchner of Albert Lea; grandchildren: Chelsea and Jacob Breiholz, Rachel and Bethany Breiholz, and Landon and Kaedyn Kirchner; sister, Marlene (Pat) McGregor; brothers: Robert (Judy) Maresh and Milford (June) Maresh; many nieces and nephews; and good friends: Margie, Duwayne and Robert Kirchner.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Eman and Elsie Maresh; and brother, Harold Maresh.
Memorials are preferred to St. John’s Lutheran Home.
