Joan Cheryl Nehring, 59, of Bloomington, formerly of Wells, died Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2009, at her home in Bloomington, from complications of diabetes. Memorial Services will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wells. Visitation will be today from 1 to 5 p.m. at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. The Rev. Meg Sander will officiate and burial will be done privately in Rice Lake Cemetery, Faribault County.
Joan Nehring was born July 27, 1949, in Albert Lea, the daughter of Clarence and Harriet (Slette) Nehring. She was baptized and confirmed at First Lutheran Church in Wells and graduated from Wells High School in 1967. She went on to obtain her dental hygienist and nursing degrees from Normandale Community College. Joan loved cooking, baking and traveling, including her trips to Europe and all around the United States. Spending time with her family, friends, neighbors and her dog Abby were the highlights of her days.
Joan is survived by her mother, Harriet Nehring of Wells; siblings: David Nehring of Cannon Falls, Ann Nehring of Blaine, Tim (Della) Nehring of Richland Center, Wis., Mary Nehring of Wells, and Scott Nehring of Wells; nieces and nephews: Clint Nehring, Jesse Goplen, Cody Nehring and Liberty Nehring; her life-long friend, Leanne Herman of Harmony; and her dog, Abby.
Joan was preceded in death by her father, Clarence, in 1993, and her brother, Dennis, in 1968.
