Jon M. Rolands, 61, of Lake Mills, Iowa, died on Friday, Jan. 2, 2009, at Albert Lea Medical Center
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills with the Rev. W. Paul Weeg officiating. Burial will take place in Salem Lutheran Cemetery, with military honors conducted by the American Legion Louis/Tviete Post 317 of Emmons. Visitation will be on Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 E. Main St. in Lake Mills and one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday.
Jon Michael Rolands was born on Feb. 12, 1947, in Albert Lea, the son of Clayton and Adeline (Moen) Rolands. He was baptized and confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills, where he was a lifelong member. Jon attended and graduated from Lake Mills High School in 1965. He went on to attend Mankato State University in Mankato for one year prior to being drafted into the United States Army.
On Aug. 30, 1969, Jon was united in marriage with Linda Stensrude at Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills. Jon worked for UPS based out Decorah and then Mason City, Iowa, until 1974, when he began farming on a full-time basis. Jon always enjoyed working the land, and he was happiest when he was busy. Jon was a family man who loved his children and grandchildren, as well as a good game of cards with his friends. He looked forward to trips to Las Vegas to see his boys.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife, Linda of Lake Mills; children: Jennifer (Scott) Bausch of La Crosse, Wis., Mike Rolands of Las Vegas, Nev., Shawna (Jesse) Negrete of Belmond, Iowa, and Mark Rolands of Las Vegas, Nev.; seven grandchildren: Madelyn, Justin and Austin Bausch, and Kobe, Vada, Ava, and Ella Negrete; his mother, Addie Rolands of Lake Mills; two sisters: Lois (Bill) McGuire of Rochester and Georgene (Tom) Westendorf of Oklahoma City, Okla.; and many extended relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clayton.
