Lila Glantz

The funeral service for Lila Margaret Glantz of Albert Lea, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Central Freeborn Lutheran Church, Rural Albert Lea. The Rev. Matthew Grieggs will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Bonnerup Funeral Service and one hour before service at the church. Interment will be in East Freeborn Cemetery.
Lila died on Thursday, Jan. 15, 2009, surrounded by her family at Sheltering Arms at St. John’s Lutheran Home, Albert Lea. She was 83 years old.
Lila was born in Albert Lea on Nov. 24, 1925, the daughter of Bernard and Clara (Stadheim) Johnsrud. Lila graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1943. She was a lifetime resident of Freeborn Co. Lila was baptized, confirmed and married at East Freeborn Lutheran Church. She taught Sunday School and had been active in the Ladies Aid and Circle at Central Freeborn Lutheran Church.
Lila worked at N.W. Bell Telephone Co. for seven years, Stevensons as bookkeeper for eight years and St. John’s Lutheran Home as bookkeeper for 16 years. She was a member of the V.F. W. and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Lila enjoyed playing bridge, camping, crafting, sewing and traveling. Her greatest enjoyment was the time she could spend with her family and grandchildren.
Lila is survived by her husband of 62 years, Victor I. Glantz of Albert Lea; children: Marcia (Fred) LeVoir of Eden Prairie, Vicki (Charles) Johnson of Brooklyn Park; grandchildren: Bridget (Joel) Johnson, Matt (Carmine) LeVoir, Andrew LeVoir, Mark LeVoir, Stephen LeVoir, Tyler Johnson, Jacqueline Johnson; great grandchildren: Ashlen, Lauren, Justin; brother, Bernard “Bendy” (Donna) Johnsrud; sisters: Harriet (John) Menke, Edith Schulenberg, Dorothy Magelssen, Cora Arnold, Janet (Herman) Stenga, Barbara (Leo) Schultz; many nieces and nephews.
Lila was preceded in death by her parents; brothers-in-law: Damon Schulenberg, Deryl Arnold, Joe Magelssen; and one sister-in-law, Shirley Talle.
Memorials may be given to the Central Freeborn Lutheran Church or donor’s choice.
