Memorial services for Verna Carlson, 94, of Albert Lea will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Daniel Baker will officiate. Verna died Saturday, Dec. 20, 2008 at Good Samaritan Center.
Verna Carlson was born on Jan. 8, 1914 to Tony and Nettie (Anderson) Nelson in Freeborn County. Verna graduated from Alden High School. She married Glen Arnold Carlson in Albert Lea. Verna resided in Freeborn County for all except 15 years, when she lived in Phoenix, Ariz. She was a life-long member of First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. Verna enjoyed bowling, crafts, playing cards and spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her son, Lee and wife Sharon Carlson of Sun City, Ariz.; grandson, Grady and wife Suzanne Carlson of Phoenix, Ariz.; granddaughter, Kelly Carlson of Phoenix, Ariz.; great-granddaughters Shelby and Sydney Carlson of Phoenix, Ariz.; several nieces and nephews.
Verna was preceded in death by her husband, Glen Arnold Carlson; brothers Chester Nelson, Harley Nelson and Ellsworth Nelson; sisters Hazel Eker, Bernadine Schultz and Naomi Mickelson.
