Ardine Horgen

Funeral services for Ardine E. Horgen of Albert Lea will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the First Lutheran Church of Albert Lea. The Rev. John Holt will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in the East Freeborn Lutheran Cemetery.
An area resident all of her life, Ardine was born March 16, 1921, in Freeborn County, the daughter of Peter and Bertha (Arneson) Hoium. She attended public school in Freeborn County. On July 7, 1963 she was united in marriage to Palmer (Pete) Horgen at Sion Lutheran Church, rural Northwood, Iowa.
She had worked at Munsingwear in Albert Lea for a short time. A talented seamstress, Ardine sewed and tailored for many.
She was a member of First Lutheran Church.
Ardine’s passion was making her home a comfortable place for others to visit. She enjoyed having her family surround her as well as hosting friends and neighbors.
Mrs. Horgen died Wednesday morning, Feb. 4, 2009, at Thorne Crest Retirement Community in Albert Lea. She was 87 years old.
Ardine is survived by nephew, Sheldon Davis of Glenville; great-nieces: Shelly Woitas of Albert Lea and Stacy Davis of Rochester; sister-in-law, Gay Horgen of Albert Lea; and many other nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and the Thorne Crest family.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Palmer; niece, Rita Davis; brother, Bertrum Hoium; and aunts and uncles.
