Funeral services for Luverne Wilbert Wolff, age 89, of Albert Lea, formerly of rural Glenville, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 19, 2009, at First Lutheran Church in Glenville. The Rev. Kristy Stokke will officiate. Interment will be at First Lutheran Cemetery in rural Glenville. Luverne died Monday, Feb. 16, 2009, at St. John’s Lutheran Home.
Luverne Wilbert Wolff was born Dec. 30, 1919, to Emil and Agnes (Straka) Wolff in Glenville. He attended school in Glenville and worked on the family farm. Luverne was united in marriage to Doris Amundson on March 14, 1943 in Owatonna. The couple made their home in rural Glenville where Luverne farmed until his retirement in 1988. Luverne was a lifelong member of First Lutheran Church in Glenville, the Eagles and former member of the Elks Lodge in Albert Lea. He and Doris enjoyed dancing and traveling to different dances around the area.
Survivors include his son, Craig and special friend, JoAnne of Brainerd; son-in-law, Ross Rehder of Barnesville; grandchildren, Jay and Jennifer Rehder, Aaron and Paul Rehder all of Barnesville; great-grandchildren, Hannah, Nathan and Claire Rehder; sisters, Audrey D. Mehus of Glenville and Beatrice Moe of Albert Lea; sisters-in-law, Effie Johnson of Moorhead and Lillian Erwin of Santee Calif.; brother-in-law, Gerhard Amundson of Moorhead.
Luverne was preceded in death by his parents; wife Doris; daughter, Cheryl Rehder; sister, Muriel Paulsen; brothers-in-law, Gene Mehus, Charley Paulsen and Helmer Moe; and great-nephew, Adam Davis. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Glenville First Lutheran Cemetery.
