Rochester Century ran away with the Big Nine Conference championship Saturday at Faribault, garnering 424 points, winning by 122.5 points over Owatonna.

Albert Lea finished 10th with 50 points at a record-shattering meet.

Seven records fell at the meet including the meet record in the 200-yard medley relay, 200 individual medley, 100 butterfly, and 100 backstroke.

Pool records fell in the 50 freestyle with Faribault’s Joey Clapp finishing in 22.00, .21 seconds better than the previous pool record. The 100 breaststroke and 400 free relay pool records were broken as well.

Rochester Century junior Brian Kiel broke four records, two as an individual and two on relay teams.

The 200 freestyle relay was Albert Lea’s best finish. The relay team placed eighth.

Max King had the best individual finish for the Tigers. King placed 11th in the 100 breaststroke.

Torey Christensen was able to take 13th in the 100 freestyle race and took 14th in the 50 freestyle.

Eight Albert Lea swimmers swam times under their seed times at the meet, including Christensen who went under in both the 100 free and 50 free.

Daniel Gould was two seconds faster than his seed time in the 500 free and Mitch Jones was a second faster in the 100 free.

Corbin Schulz was nearly three seconds faster in the 200 free and King was nearly four seconds faster in the 200 free.
