Blooming Prairie knocks off Alden-Conger in season finale

Blooming Prairie’s Matt Zellmer was lights out Tuesday night against Alden-Conger, helping his team to a 59-43 victory over the Knights in Alden.

Zellmer scored a game-high 26 points as the Blossoms (19-5 overall) closed out the regular season with a win.

Zellmer connected on seven 3-pointers in the game.

“He was just unconscious,” said Alden-Conger head coach Bill Hintz.

Despite the loss Hintz was pleased with his team’s performance and said the team played well defensively.

The Knights were only outscored by three in the second half.

Travis Marth led Alden-Conger with 14 points and was the only Knight player to reach double figures.

Alden-Conger turns its attention toward the Section 1A playoffs where it faces Glenville-Emmons in the first round Friday in Kenyon at 6 p.m.
