Now is the correct time for the Vikings

This is in response to the story “Metrodome Officials: New Stadium equals job” by the Associated Press.

Even though Minnesota is facing a budget deficit of $4.8 billion, now is the perfect time for Vikings to get a new stadium. Some may say, when we already have to adjust to the deficit, how can we afford a new stadium? The new stadium would create 8,000 construction jobs, which can only help during the recession. The new stadium would also bring in $32 million a year in tax revenue to local and the state government.

There is only one problem with the plan for a new stadium. They want to build on the Metrodome site. Where would the Vikings play while the new stadium is being built? The Metrodome wasn’t suitable for the Twins or Gophers, so why do the Vikes still play there? I personally think that a new stadium will not only help the state but the Vikings, too.
