Darleen Fischer, 82

Darleen June Fischer, 82, of Owatonna, died Thursday, April 16, 2009, at Owatonna Hospital.
She was born June 23, 1926, in Northfield, the daughter of Einar and Olga (Thompson) Larson. Darleen married Orville “Bud” Fischer on Nov. 25, 1945, at Faith Lutheran Church in Walters. The couple farmed and raised their family in the Alden and Walters area. They moved to Owatonna in 1965 at which time they became members of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. Darleen worked as a laundress at the Owatonna High School and later also worked at Truth Hardware. In 1980 Darleen and Orville moved to a farm near Rice Lake State Park where they lived until Orville preceded her in death in 2006. Darleen then moved to an apartment at Real Life in Owatonna.
She was a member of Owatonna Tops Club and the Retired Janitorial Staff of Owatonna Schools. Darleen enjoyed gardening, cooking, canning and playing cards. She loved animals and kept her family as a priority in her life.
Darleen is survived by her son Gary (and Diane) Fischer of Rochester; daughter Karen (and Ralph) Nelson of Owatonna; grandchildren Bruce (and Trisha) Nelson of Owatonna, Jill (and Kyro) Lantsberger of Owatonna, Lori Fischer of St. Paul, Lisa Fischer of Rochester, Kari Fischer of Rochester; great-grandchildren Courtney Nelson, Parker Nelson, Amber Nelson, Connor Lantsberger and Hannah Lantsberger; sister Ardys Sutherland of Owatonna; sister-in-laws Ardus Sanderson of Albert Lea and Delores Fischer of Albert Lea and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband.
Visitation will be at Michaelson Funeral Home today from 1 to 4 p.m. and at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church on Monday from 9 to 10 a.m. Funeral services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church with the Rev. Ron Gilthvedt officiating. Interment will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Owatonna.
