The funeral service for Gary Lee Brandt of Albert Lea will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Trinity Lutheran Church, Albert Lea. The Rev. Curtis Zieske will officiate. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Bonnerup Funeral Service and one hour before service at the church. Interment will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by the Albert Lea veterans organizations.
Gary died on Tuesday, March 31, 2009 at his home. He was 56.
Gary was born in Austin on Aug. 29, 1952, the son of Edmund and Alberta (Fuchs) Brandt. He graduated from Albert Lea High School. Gary served his country in the U.S. Army. He was united in marriage to Diane Budach in Wells and later divorced. He had lived in Wells and Albert Lea. Gary had worked at Wells Concrete Products, Clothing Care Products and for the last 25 years at Streater Co. Gary had been a member of the American Legion and the Eagles Club.
Gary enjoyed watching football, baseball and basketball and his greatest love was the time he spent with his family and friends.
Gary is survived by his parents Edmund and Alberta Brandt of Albert Lea; son, Corey (Katie) Brandt of Albert Lea; life partner, Julie Golder of Albert Lea; sisters: Jerrilyn Warmka of Wells, Karen (Rick) Boyer of Albert Lea, Robbin (Todd) Weatherly of Rochester; brother, Marty Brandt of Albert Lea; and nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Gary was preceded in death by his sister, Carol Brandt, and grandparents.
