Marian Jones, 90

The Funeral Service for Marian L. Jones, of Albert Lea, formerly of Richfield, will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Ascension Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. Mark Boorsma will officiate. Interment will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, St. Paul at 10:30 on Monday. Visitation will be one hour before services at the church on Saturday.
Marian died peacefully on Wednesday, April 22, 2009, at St. John’s Lutheran Home. She had just celebrated her 90th birthday.
Marian was born on March 26, 1919, in Enderlin, N.D., the daughter of Jens and Hannah Andrea (Holm) Isaksen.
She graduated from Enderlin High School and then attended Interstate Business College in Fargo, N.D., for secretarial and clerical training.
She worked for the Federal Government in Fargo in Crop Insurance and then the Internal Revenue Service.
On Nov. 29, 1952, she was united in marriage the Owen H. Jones in Moorhead.
Following their marriage they lived in Fargo until moving in 1960 to the officers quarters at Fort Snelling in St. Paul. They moved to Richfield in 1963. She moved to Knutson Place in Albert Lea in January of 2008 to be near her daughter Carolyn. She spent her life caring and nurturing her family, and so enjoyed spending time with them.
She was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church and a former member of House of Prayer Lutheran Church in Richfield.
Marian enjoyed playing piano, which she did by ear, sewing, embroidery, various crafts and baking.
She will be greatly missed by her daughter, Carolyn, and son-in-law, Dr. Gary Lamson, of Albert Lea; grandchildren: Rebecca Lamson of Madison, Wis., and Alex Lamson of Albert Lea; sister-in-law, Erldamae Jones, of Moorhead; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Owen, in 1994; sisters: Dagny, Lilly and Jeanette; and parents Jens and Hannah.
In lieu of flowers memorials preferred to Ascension Lutheran Church.
