Funeral services for Myrtle M. Bomer, age 100, of Albert Lea will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. John’s Lutheran Home Chapel. The Rev. Jeff Laeger-Hagemeister will officiate. Myrtle died Thursday, April 16, 2009, at St. John’s Lutheran Home.
Myrtle M. Bomer was born on Sept. 7, 1908, to Lauritz and Gena (Nelson) Peterson in Manchester Township of Freeborn County. She graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1928. Myrtle attended the University of Nebraska and Van Sant School of Business. She was employed at Blackstone Hotel in Omaha, Neb. as an accountant and was a member of the Salvation Army Corps. Myrtle was united in marriage to Elva Bomer on June 2, 1962, in Omaha. After Elva’s death in 1993, Myrtle moved back to Albert Lea. She was an avid reader, especially the Bible.
Survivors include her sister Alpha Brekke; nephews Dale and Larry Brekke, Dennis Christenson and Robert and Bill Treuter; nieces Denise Treuter and Linda Tapp; and many extended family members and friends.
Myrtle was preceded in death by her husband, Elva; brothers Norman, Kenneth and Arville Peterson; sisters Alice Christenson, Gladys Raimer and Harriet Treuter.
