Funeral services for Peter Erickson, 98, of Albert Lea will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, at Hartland Evangelical Lutheran Church. The Rev Dennis Schmidt will officiate. Interment will be at Hartland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Peter died Sunday, April 26, 2009, at Good Samaritan Center.
Peter Erickson was born on Oct. 10, 1910, to Christopher and Engrie (Raaum) Erickson in Hartland. Peter grew up in the Hartland area and attended District 10 Country School. On Feb. 24, 1933, he was united in marriage to Gladys Gulbrandson in Hartland. Peter farmed in the Hartland area. He was a life long member of Hartland Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was also a member of the Sons of Norway, Albert Lea Senior Citizens and Hartland Senior Citizens. Peter was a very social person, he enjoyed playing cards and was an avid Twins fan.
Survivors include his daughters: Lois Ann (Murph) Berg of Red Wing, and Karen L. (Dennis) Johnson of Minnetonka; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Peter was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Gladys; great-grandchild, Anna Johnson; sisters: Marie Erickson, Edna Sorenson and Ann Erickson; and brothers: Oscar, Olaf and Carl Erickson.
