Rozella Hansen

The Memorial Service for Rozella Hansen of Hollandale will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Bonnerup Funeral Service Chapel, Albert Lea. The Rev. William Bankester will officiate. Interment will be in the Hollandale Cemetery, Hollandale. Visitation will be one hour before service at the chapel.
Rozella died Friday, April 10, 2009, at St. John’s Lutheran Home, Albert Lea. She was 85 years old.
Rozella was born in Palo Alto, Iowa, on Nov. 5, 1923, the daughter of Albert H. and Martha (Gappa) Walz. She graduated from Albert Lea High School. Rozella was married to Kenneth Hansen on Feb. 12, 1943, in Texas. Rozella was a member of the Hollandale Conservative Congregational Church in Hollandale.
Rozella had worked as a grocery clerk in Hollandale and for many years worked for school district 241 in the cafeteria. She enjoyed decorating cakes and playing cards with her Friday Card Group.
Rozella is survived by her son Donald (Sue) Hansen of Albert Lea; daughter Carol (Roger) Young of Billings, Mont.; grandchildren Ron Hansen, Keri (Robert) O’Brien, Steven (Julie) Young and Patty (Shawn) Ward; great-grandchildren Sam, Madeline, Eleanor and Brennen; special friend Irene Jones of Hollandale; brothers Leo Walz of Illinois, John Walz of Alexandria and Albert Walz of Rochester; sisters Mary Helen O’Neal of Illinois and Delores Overby of Austin and many nieces and nephews.
Rozella was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth; sisters Lillian Sainer and Katherine Halferty; brother, Jerome Walz.
