2007 Albert Lea graduate accepts U.N. internship

Abraham Swee, son of Daryl and Judy Swee of Albert Lea, has accepted an internship with the U.S. Department of State at the United Nations in New York City. Abraham will be working as a press and diplomacy intern under Ambassador Susan E. Rice. While working in the press office, Abraham will be responsible for briefing the spokesman on U.N. General Assembly and Security Council Meetings, helping to organize press conferences, checking and distributing afternoon wires and circulating press releases. Abraham will also assist with any visits made by the president or secretary of state.

Swee was selected for the internship after applying with the State Department’s career development office. Abraham is a 2007 graduate of Albert Lea High School. He attends Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa, where he is double majoring in broadcast news and musical theater.
