Amelia Bakke, 95

Funeral services for Amelia Florence Bakke, 95, of Albert Lea will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, at First Lutheran Church. The Rev. John Holt will officiate. Interment will be at Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.
Amelia died Tuesday, May 12, 2009, at St. John’s Lutheran Home.
Amelia Florence Bakke was born on Jan. 14, 1914, to Joseph and Clara (Anderson) Simonson in Genoa, Colo. Amelia moved with her family to the Hartland area where she was confirmed and attended District 10 school in Hartland. On Oct. 29, 1932, she was united in marriage to John Bakke in Hartland. Amelia worked at Land O’Lakes in Albert Lea. Amelia was a member of First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea where she was active in Circle 31 and the First Lutheran Church Women. She was a charter member of the Sons of Norway. Amelia enjoyed gardening, canning, camping and fishing with her husband and grandchildren. She enjoyed taking care of and feeding her family. Amelia especially loved lutefisk and making lefse. She enjoyed playing cards, games, reading poetry and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her children: Jerome Bakke of Maple Island, Lois (Michael) Reardon of St. Paul, Florence (Roger) Syvertsen of Grand Forks, N.D., and Orrin (Fran) Bakke of Hasting; 13 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; several sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews.
Amelia was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; daughter-in-law, Audrey; one granddaughter; six brothers; and three sisters.
