Line-item veto would cut earmarks

The editor is wrong. If we had the line-item veto at the national level we maybe could control the earmarks that are shoved through in bills, thus eliminating projects that senators and representatives want just for their own district. There were almost 8,000 earmarks shoved through Congress earlier this year in a bill to keep government running.

Most were not needed; they are made by politicians who want to reward those who voted for them.
