The three Lions Clubs in Albert Lea, Albert Lea Lions, Cloverleaf Lions and LakeView Lions, welcomed District Gov. Rick Wagener and Lion Jack Webster (Waterville Lions) on April 8 as they traveled the region seeking funds to support health-related projects.

Journey for Service is a program originated by Lions International. Webster has served as chairman of this annual fundraiser since 1990. Each spring he coordinates an effort to travel across District 5M-2. Funds collected from Lions, Lioness and Leo Clubs during the “Journey” have always been donated to health-related projects with the largest share of funds collected being used for sight and hearing programs. An average of $15,000 per year has been contributed by the clubs visited.

The Journey for Service operates on a minimum of expense with only about 3 percent of the income being used for expenses.
