Arvilla Paulson, 82

Funeral services for Arvilla Paulson, 82, of Alden will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. from Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home. The Rev. Kent Otterman will officiate. Burial will be at the Alden Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services on Tuesday.
Arvilla died on Friday, June 26, 2009, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester.
Arvilla Paulson was born on April 2, 1927, to John and Anna (Wacholz) Vogel in Kiester. She attended Comb’s Country School and the Kiester High School. She graduated from the School of Beauty Culture in Minneapolis and worked at Skinner’s Beauty Salon in Albert Lea. Arvilla was united in marriage to Donald Paulson on Sept. 7, 1947, in Walters. They farmed in the Alden area for many years and in 1979 the couple moved to Alden. She was a member of the Alden United Methodist Church and had been active in the UMW and the Alden American Legion Auxiliary. Arvilla enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling on bus trips, cooking and playing cards.
Survivors include her daughters: Twyla and husband John Rubin, New Orleans, Barbara and husband Tom O’Brien, St. Cloud and Jane Allmann, Spring Valley; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild; two sisters: Dorothy Beck and LaVerna and husband Orven Charlson; two sisters-in-law: Goldie Buendorf and Dorothy Trombley and many nieces and nephews.
Arvilla was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1991 and brothers: Arthur and William Becker.
