Funeral services for Carter Andrew Newell, 2 1/2 years, of Rochester, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Bethel Lutheran Church in Rochester with the Rev. Norm Wahl officiating. Burial will be at Grandview Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Homes and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Carter Andrew Newell was born on Nov. 30, 2006, in Rochester, to Dan Aaland and Heidi Newell. Carter died on May 29, 2009, at St. Marys Hospital as a result of a car accident.
Carter enjoyed watching “SpongeBob Square Pants” and enjoyed playing with balls and dinosaurs. He loved working with Papa Terry in the garage and juggling with Papa Bruce and sitting on the motorcycle. Carter and his cousin, Aubrey, always enjoyed playing together. The family donated Carter’s organs through Life Source so other children could benefit.
Survivors include his father, Dan Aaland of Rochester; his brother, Landon Hay of Rochester; his maternal grandmother, Rita Seha of Rochester; his maternal grandparents, Bruce and Julie Newell of Rochester; his uncles Corey and Jake; and his aunts, Shari and Amanda; and his cousin, Aubrey Newell; and his special friend, Dustin Solomon. Carter was preceded in death by his mother, Heidi Newell; his grandfather, Terry Milholland; his uncle Raymond Milholland; and great-uncle, Randy Willmert.
