Evonne Caswell

Evonne Ione Caswell, 69, of Owatonna, died on June 14, 2009, at Cedarview Care Center, Owatonna, following complications from cancer.
Evonne was born on May 5, 1940 in Ellendale, the daughter of Perry and Marion (Schear) Chadwick. The family moved to Owatonna when Evonne was 4 years old. She married James A. Caswell on Dec. 7, 1956, in Owatonna. Over the course of Jim’s career with the Minnesota Department of Transportation, the couple lived in Owatonna, Red Wing and Austin. Following Jim’s retirement, the couple made their home in Federal Dam until 2005, when they returned to Owatonna to be nearer their family.
Evonne enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening and helping Jim with house projects. Other interests included solving word and jigsaw puzzles, following the Vikings and Twins, reading, bingo, crafts, fishing and teaching others how to fish. She welcomed and acted upon the opportunity to help other people. Evonne especially enjoyed spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband, James, of Owatonna; four sons, Jim of Owatonna; Perry (and Sue) of Buffalo, Bob (and Theresa) of Owatonna and John of Owatonna; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; her brother Darrell (and Marian) Kubinski of Crocker, Mo.; two sisters, Zona Karsten of Owatonna and Gerri (and Kenn) Breamer of Albert Lea; and many nieces and nephews.
Evonne was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Dorothy Caswell.
Funeral services will be held at the Owatonna United Methodist Church at 10:30 a.m. Thursday with the Rev. Loren Olson officiating. Visitation will be at the Brick-Meger Funeral Home (1603 Austin Road, Owatonna) from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to the services at church. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Owatonna. Memorials are preferred to the donor’s choice. Online condolences may be expressed at www.brick-megerfuneralhome.com.
