The Albert Lea Youth Soccer Association’s U-13, girls’ Classic 3 team closed out its regular summer season 11-1-0 in the South League to take top honors as the league champs. The only loss the team faced this season was the first game of the season to one of the Rochester teams 2-1.
The team clinched the league championship by beating the other Rochester team 3-1 this last week in Rochester.
Albert Lea earned a direct berth to the state tournament with the league championship. The state tournament will be held in Apple Valley July 25 and 26 as part of a two-day pool play. The two pool winners will face off in the state championship on July 29.
The team wishes to thank the ALYSA for supporting their team throughout the summer season as well as the referees and parents. A special thanks to Dwaine Winkels, Greg and Whitney Wilson and the U-14 girls’ team that practiced together throughout the season. Also the team would like to thank Todd
Lange and several of his U-12 girls who played up during the season with our team.
Thanks also to the businesses and community members of Albert Lea and Freeborn County who support youth soccer in our community.
