Funeral services for Josephine H. Jones, age 85, of Albert Lea will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Ascension Lutheran Church. The Rev. Mark Boorsma will officiate. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Josephine died Thursday, July 2, 2009, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester.
Josephine H. Jones was born on Jan. 18, 1924, to Theodore and Jane (Noble) Helleck in Austin. She grew up in rural Blooming Prairie and was a member of the Red Oak Grove Church. Josephine graduated from Blooming Prairie High School. After high school she attended Austin Junior College. On June 22, 1946, she was united in marriage to Dale Jones in Seattle, where they lived for two years. The couple then returned to the Albert Lea area where they made their home. Josephine was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with family. She and Dale enjoyed spending winters in Arizona after his retirement.
Survivors include her children, Gail and her husband, Ron Rhea of Byhalia, Miss., Carol and her husband Ernie Schultz of Alden, Jeff and his wife, Donna Jones of Chaska, Marge and her husband Bill Entorf of Albert Lea, Michael and his wife, Cindy Jones of Brownsdale and Steven and his wife, Carol Jones of Joliet, IL; son-in-law, Tom O’Byrne of Albert Lea; 16 grandchildren and step grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; brothers: Roscoe and his wife, Rita Helleck of Sterling, Alaska, Arthur and his wife, Arlene Helleck of Blooming Prairie and Harold and his wife, Susan Helleck of Rochester; sister-in-law, Leona Jordahl of Owatonna; and brother-in-law, Lloyd Jones of Las Vegas.
Josephine was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dale; daughter, Janet O’Byrne; great-grandson, Makiao; and sister, Thelma Hendriks.
