Thomas M. Nichols, 43, of Alden, died Monday, July 27, 2009, at Immanuel-St. Joseph Hospital in Mankato. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Casimir Catholic Church in Wells. The Rev. Eugene Stenzel will officiate. Visitation will be today from 4 to 7 p.m. at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells and one hour prior to the service at the church. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. following the visitation. Burial will be in Alden Cemetery.
Thomas M. Nichols was born Aug. 25, 1965, the son of Bruce and Marilyn (Dyvad) Nichols in St. Paul. On Oct. 22, 1994, he was united in marriage to Marcia Trehey in Rochester. One child, Kyle, was born to this union. The couple later divorced.
Thomas graduated from Alden-Conger High school in 1984. He attended Mankato State and earned his bachelor’s degree in business management and his master’s degree in information management from Marist College in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. He enjoyed fishing, bowling and fast-pitch softball. He especially loved and enjoyed spending time with his son.
Thomas is survived by his son, Kyle, of Kasson; parents: Bruce and Marilyn Nichols of Alden; Kyle’s mother, Marcia Nichols of Kasson; twin brother, Tim Nichols of St. Paul Park; two nieces: Kimberly Nichols and Amanda Nichols, of St. Paul Park; and several aunts, uncles, and their families.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents; uncle and aunt: Don (Roma) Dyvad; and cousin, Todd Dyvad.
