Memorial services for Dorothy C. Jensen, 85, of Albert Lea will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home. The Rev. Dan Baker will officiate. Burial will be at Hillcrest Cemetery. Friends may greet the family one hour prior to the services on Wednesday.
Dorothy died on Saturday, Aug. 1, 2009, at St. John’s Lutheran Home.
Dorothy Charlotte Jensen was born on April 22, 1924, in Albert Lea, the daughter of George and Ovidia (Prestegaard) James. She attended rural school and worked as a nanny and did housecleaning for family in the Austin area. On Dec. 30, 1945, she was united in marriage to Ervin Jensen at Oakland Lutheran Church. The couple moved to Arizona in 1986 and in 1996, Dorothy moved back to Albert Lea. She enjoyed being a homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother. Dorothy enjoyed playing board games and cards with her friends and crocheting and traveling. She was a member of First Lutheran Church, American Legion Auxilary and the Albert Lea Senior Citizens Center.
Survivors include her children: Cheri and husband Robert Stewart, Elmhurst, Ill., Rick Jensen, Placerville, Colo., and Gary and wife Arlette, Rochester; grandchildren: Tracie and husband Terry Cullen, Amy and husband Joseph Caruso, Adam Jensen, Laura Mikkelsen, Rachel and husband Abe Pattee and Jared Mikkelsen; five great-grandchildren; and sister, Inez and husband Earl Cottrel, Glenville.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and granddaughter, Kimberly Jensen.
Memorials are preferred to the American Cancer Society.
