Editorial: Getting the Trib in your e-mail?

Have you been receiving a roundup of AlbertLeaTribune.com in your e-mail daily this week?

If so, good.

This is just another means by which the Tribune is embracing multimedia and delivering news to people where they desire it.

Let us share a story with you. On Tuesday morning at the Freeborn County Fair, Dustin Quimby checked his e-mail on his Palm Pre, one of those web-enabled smartphones much like the Blackberry and iPhone.

He was happy to discover that, for the second day in a row, he had received an e-mail message with highlights of Tribune content.

The Tribune’s editor happened to be nearby and Quimby asked: “Is this going to be every day?”

The editor said yes, and Quimby smiled in approval.

There are many people like Quimby who embrace the possibilities of new technology, and we would be remiss if we didn’t serve them, too. Some readers expect to find newspapers in racks in front of post offices. Others expect to find them in their e-mail.

This week, the e-mail message came mid-morning, but now that we are under way, it will start arriving at 8 a.m. so people will see it when they arrive at work.

Yes, you could call it the morning edition.

If you aren’t getting the Tribune in your e-mail messages in the morning and want it, send a request to daily@albertleatribune.com. We’ll sign you up.
