Interstate 90 between Albert Lea and Alden opened Thursday, but on Monday Freeborn County Road 46 will close.
I-90 had been closed since July 6 for reconstruction as part of an overlay project from Exit 146 in Alden to Exit 154 at Minnesota Highway 13.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation reports the eastbound I-90 exit ramp to Highway 13 remaining closed. Motorists are encouraged to follow the detour route — get off at Exit 157 for Bridge Avenue in Albert Lea and return westbound on I-90 to the ramp to Highway 13.
Detour signs will pop up Monday for motorists wishing to take Freeborn County 46. The road will get a concrete overlay from Freeborn County 6 in Alden to Lake Chapeau Drive.
The construction on I-90 and County 46 are connected. They are part of a $16 million project funding by the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act. Ulland Brothers Inc. is the prime contractor.
The work should be finished by September.
According to the Department of Transportation, the work is part of nearly 100 road and bridge projects in Minnesota funded with $502 million by the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act.
