In response to the recent elevated demand for food pantry assistance, Al Weisert of Hy-Vee has stepped up to meet the demand. On Thursday at Hy-Vee, 2708 Bridge Ave., from noon to 6 p.m. Weisert and Capt. Jim Brickson of the Albert Lea Salvation Army will be attempting to “Stuff the Truck.”

Weisert and Brickson will be located in the parking lot to receive gifts of nonperishable food goods to fill it up. Many in-store specials designed to help with this attempt will also be offered. A $25 gift card can be purchased for $20 to be gifted to the Salvation Army food shelf. Hot dogs and beverage will be provided with all proceeds going to this needed event.

Last month the Salvation Army distributed over 14,000 pounds of food to needy residents of Freeborn County.

“We need the entire community to drop by the truck to fill it to capacity,” said Brickson.
