Sandra K. Spies, 56, of Waseca, died on Monday, Aug. 24, 2009, at her home, surrounded by her family.
Memorial services will be held on Monday at 10:30 a.m. at McRaith Funeral Home in Waseca with the Rev. Marty Schaefer officiating. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery, Waseca.
The Spies Family will greet friends on Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m. at McRaith Funeral Home, and will continue on Monday morning for one hour prior to services. There will be a 5:30 p.m. prayer service Sunday afternoon at the funeral home.
Sandra Kay was born on July 9, 1953, in Albert Lea, to Lloyd and Mavis (Flattum) Ebert. She was a graduate of Blooming Prairie High School. On May 8, 1981, Sandra was united in marriage to Leo Spies in Waseca. Sandy and Leo lived their entire married life in Waseca. Sandy was a 37-year employee of Emerson Electric in Waseca. She enjoyed going to movies, shopping, dirt track races, and playing cards. She loved time spent with her husband Leo, and taking care of the grandkids.
She is survived by her husband, Leo Spies, of Waseca; her children: Eric (Kim) Spies of New Richland and Adam Spies of Waseca; by her grandchildren: Kyra and Kalea; by her brothers: Dick Ebert of Rushford (special friend Carol Monroe) and Dick’s daughter Lisa, and Larry (Karen) Ebert of Clarks Grove and their son Brady; by her mother-in-law, Mary Spies, of Waseca; her sister-in-law, Carol Sell, of Owatonna; and brothers-in-law: Bob Mether and Frank Schoeb; by many nieces and nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Mavis (Flattum) Ebert; by her sister, Linda; by her father-in-law, Henry Spies, and her sister-in-law, Debra Schoeb.
