Tobacco check had positive results

On Wednesday Albert Lea Police Department conducted a round of tobacco checks at retail firms throughout the city. Minors under the age of 18 years old were sent to businesses to attempt to purchase tobacco products. There were no illegal sales made.
Counterfeit bill found
The Albert Lea Police Department was informed by a local bank at 4 p.m. Wednesday that a counterfeit $100 bill was found in a deposit made by an area firm. An investigation of this incident is continuing.
Popcorn stand burglarized
Albert Lea police were notified at 2:40 a.m. today that Merrill’s Popcorn Stand, now located in the city parking lot at the corner of North Broadway Avenue and Water Street was burglarized. The police report said there was also damage done to the stand’s contents.
