Funeral services for Vivian Henriksen Paulsen, 86, Fairmont, will be held on Friday at 1 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church in Fairmont. Vivian died on Monday, Aug. 10, 2009, at Oakwood Care Center, Clear Lake, Iowa. Interment will take place in Westford Cemetery, rural Truman. Visitation will be held on Thursday at Zaharia Family Funeral & Cremation Service of Truman from 5 to 7 p.m. and one hour before the services at the church.
Vivian Van Brundt was born on Aug. 13, 1922, in Nashville Township, rural Martin County, to Lou and Frances (Hadley) Van Brundt. She attended school in Truman. On Oct. 1, 1939, Vivian was united in marriage to Eldor Henriksen in the family farm east of Truman. They farmed in Nashville Township until 1961. They moved into Truman in 1961 and in 1962 they moved to Emmons, where Vivian worked at the Superette. In 1966 they moved to Winnebago where they purchased the Elms Motel which Vivian operated until 1987 when they retired. After retirement Vivian and Eldor enjoyed many years at their lake home in Nevis and their winter home in Apache Junction, Ariz. After Eldor’s death, Vivian married the Rev. Clifford Paulsen on Dec. 16, 1993. They made their home in Nisswa and in Rockport, Texas, for the next several years. In 2007, Vivian and Clifford moved to Goldfinch Estates in Fairmont. Vivian loved many things. She enjoyed dancing, cards, walks in the fresh snow and most of all she loved her family.
Vivian was preceded in death by her loving grandparents, W.D. and Kittie Hadley; her parents, Lou and Flossie Van Brundt; her husbands: Eldor and Clifford; her oldest son, Gary; her step grandson, Blake Blanchard and her brother, Corwin Van Brundt.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, two sons: Dennis and Jo Henriksen of Wayzata, Stephen and Renate Henriksen of Longville; one daughter, Kathryn and Jim Blanchard of Clear Lake; daughter-in-law, Dee Henriksen of Edina; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; also survived by Clifford’s children, Mark and Melanie Paulsen of Indianola, Iowa, Diane Huben of Rice, Linda and Robert Flewellen of San Diego, Calif., Tricia and John Stensgard of Maple Grove and eight grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Westford Cemetery, in care of Community Baptist Church in Truman.
