The funeral service for Dillon J. Gordon, of Alden, will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. Dan Baker will officiate.
Friends may visit with family from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, 2210 E. Main St., and one hour before the service at the church.
Dillon was born on Nov. 9, 1980, in Albert Lea, the son of Terry and Diane (Engebretson) Gordon. He graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1999 and then completed the auto body course at Riverland Community College.
He had been working at Pro Manufacturing in steel fabrication. Being a hardworker and craftsman were traits that Dillon was very proud of. Dillon was multi-talented and was a go-to guy for many.
He was an avid outdoorsman, especially enjoying motorcycling, snowmobiling, hunting and fishing.
Dillon left us on Thursday, Sept. 17, 2009, at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester as a result of injuries from a tragic motorcycle accident on Sept. 9, 2009.
Even though we only had him for 28 years, Dillon’s legacy will live on, as following his death he was a donor, which gives opportunity for many lives to be saved and changed forever. The mark that Dillon left on our lives can never be measured, as he seemed to “just know” when someone was in need.
He gave of his heart freely, willingly shared the love of his family and gave many a “safe place to land.”
Dillon will be forever in the hearts of his parents, Terry and Diane Gordon; the new found love of his life, Alison Grunwald and her son, Will; grandma, Selma Engebretson of Albert Lea; uncle Lance (Debbie) Engebretson of Albert Lea; aunt Cheryl (Buck) Christensen of Albert Lea; cousin “sister” Krista Stillings; aunt Kathy (Dan) DeBoer of Clarks Grove, and cousins Jace, Bryce and Toni; aunt Deb (Denny) Roth of Worthington and cousins Teresa (Darrin) Stofferan of Sibley, Iowa, Wendy (Travis) Kuehl of Hartford, S.D., and Emily (Cavelle) VanWesten of Sibley, Iowa; aunt Brenda (Tom) Henry of Fairmont and cousins Danielle (Luis) Collazo of San Diego, Nick (Tina) Henry of Minneapolis, Kevin Henry of St. Peter; aunt Janelle (David) Majewski of Des Moines, Iowa, and cousins Heather (Chad) Barnes of Des Moines, Iowa, Seth Majewski of Des Moines, Iowa, Matthew Gordon of Minneapolis, and Samantha Gordon of California; and many great-aunts and uncles. His pet friend and constant companion Henry will be lost without him.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Lowell and Ardell Gordon; maternal grandfather, Gene Engebretson; and uncle Randy Gordon.
The memory of Dillon’s infectious smile will be forever with us, as well as the warmth of his heart that he so willingly shared.
