Elsie Boettger, 101

Funeral services for Elsie Eulalia Boettger of New Richland will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the First Congregational Church in New Richland. The Rev. Pamela Jensen will officiate. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery, New Richland.
Elsie died Monday morning at the New Richland Care Center. She was 101 years of age.
Elsie was born March 19, 1908, in Ruthven, Iowa, the daughter of Wilhelm and Minnie (Simington) Rosacker. She moved to Minnesota with her family in 1914. She attended country school in Waseca County, and did housework for neighbors. On Sept. 24, 1947, she was united in marriage to Ernest A. Boettger in New Richland. They farmed with his brother John for many years before moving into New Richland. Elsie also worked for many years at E.F. Johnson Company in Waseca.
Elsie was a member of the First Congregational Church and belonged to the ladies group. She enjoyed baking, gardening and needlework. She bowled on several bowling leagues.
Elsie had no children of their own, but their nieces and nephews were their family. There are two sisters: Lola Nesdahl of Albert Lea and Dorothy Root of El Paso, Texas; brother-in-law, Charles Boettger of Kasson; sister-in-law, Alice Rosaker, of Ruthven, Iowa.
Elsie’s pet dogs had always been great companions for her throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ernest; three brothers: Elmer, Richard and Raymond; 11 brothers-in-law; eight sisters-in-law; two nephews; and two nieces.
