Third-grader Elizabeth Kunkel-Erickson of Albert Lea has an unusual golden birthday of sorts.

Today, on Sept. 9, 2009, the girl, who ironically also has nine letters in her first name, will turn 9.

But that’s not the only connection to the No. 9 for the Lakeview Elementary School student.

Kunkel-Erickson noted the month of her birth — September — also has nine letters. And her favorite number — at the moment — is 9.

It’s not so often that a person can see this many similarities between their age and other aspects of their life.

On Tuesday afternoon after her first day of school, the third-grade student said she’s excited for her special birthday and for the birthday party she has planned at her house. She hoped to bring some form of birthday favor to her classmates today.

The daughter of Pat and Jolene Kunkel, of Owatonna, and Jo Ann Erickson, of Albert Lea, Kunkel-Erickson said she enjoys rollerblading, hanging out with her best friend and going to school.

In the winter, she also likes to go sledding down the hill at her school.

She has one brother, Jacob, 15, and two step-sisters Cherise, 15, and Kylie, 12.
