The Alden-Conger defense turned in its second shutout of the season in a dominating fashion as the Knights rolled to a 29-0 victory against Truman Friday in Alden.

Alden-Conger (2-1, 2-1 SMC) limited the Bluejays (0-3, 0-3) to just 99 yards of total offense as the front four for the Knights controlled the line of scrimmage. Truman was limited to just 34 yards rushing while Alden-Conger got 200 yards of rushing on offense.

The Knights forced three turnovers, including two fumbles and an interception while tallying four sacks in the game.

But the most telling stat of the night was the number of first down for Truman. The number was four and two of them came by penalty.

The Knights didn’t get going on offense until the second quarter but when they did they did so in a big way, putting up 20 points on the Bluejays.

Michael Reyerson scored the game’s first touchdown on a 1-yard run and Lucas Kleinschrodt threw for two touchdown passes in his first action of the season since a knee injury kept him out of the first two games.

Alden-Conger head coach Chad Mattson elected to bring Kleinschrodt in later in the game and he helped spark the offense. Kleinschrodt found Max Keller for a 25-yard touchdown pass that put the Knights up 14-0 and found Brandon McTague for a 4-yard touchdown pass later in the quarter. Kleinschrodt finished 5-for-7 with 56 yards and two touchdowns in his brief appearance.

Keller added a 40-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter as well for his second touchdown of the game.

Brandon McTague led Alden-Conger in rushing with 85 yards on 16 carries.

The schedule gets tougher for the Knights in the next three weeks as the face Hills-Beaver Creek next week then Nicollet, who was undefeated in the conference entering Friday and then Edgerton.
