Warm temperatures through most of last week helped Minnesota’s corn crop advance, but it was still behind last year’s.
In its weekly crop weather report for Minnesota, the U.S. Department of Agriculture says corn at or beyond the dent stage reached 91 percent, which is 6 points behind last year.
Soybeans are keeping close to last year’s pace with 81 percent dropping leaves, 36 percent rated mature and 5 percent harvested, compared to 7 percent a year ago.
The week brought significant amounts of rain to southern Minnesota on Friday, while a cold front brought cooler temperatures statewide on Sunday.
