Minnie Hanson, 101

The funeral service for Minnie Marie Hanson of Albert Lea will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Bonnerup Funeral Service Chapel, Albert Lea. The Rev. John Holt will officiate. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea and one hour before service at the chapel. Interment will be in the Graceland Cemetery.
Minnie died Sunday, Sept. 27, 2009, at Mercy Hospital, Mason City, Iowa. She was 101.
Minnie was born in Lisbon, N.D., on Oct. 29, 1907, the daughter of John and Helena (Miller) Bock. She lived in Freeborn Coounty and Seattle, Wash., most of her life and the last nine years has lived in the Lake Mills, Iowa, and Mason City, Iowa, areas.
She was married to Robert S. Hanson on Oct. 11, 1927, at the Waseca County Courthouse. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Minnie was an avid bingo player at the American Legion, Elks Club and Eagles Club. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, playing cards, going to the casino and was an avid Twins fan. Her most enjoyable time was spent with her family.
Minnie is survived by her six children: Bill (Barbara) Hanson of Springbrook, Wis., Mervin (Joyce) Hanson of Waseca, Barbara Hunley of Lake Mills, Adolph Hanson of Lake Mills, Jerome (Joann) Hanson of Mesa, Ariz., Maxine Narverud of Mason City; 25 grandchildren; 50 great- grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Minnie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert in 1964; children: James and Ronald; three brothers: Arthur, Lawrence, Leonard; two sisters: Luella and Frieda; granddaughter, Diana Edwards; and grandson, Eugene Hanson.
