It was another win for the New Richland-Hartland-Ellendale-Geneva volleyball team Tuesday, but it wasn’t as ho-hum as they have been this season for the undefeated Panthers.
NRHEG (11-0) was stretched to four games against Waterville-Elysian-Morristown in a 3-1 win in Waterville, but remained victorious.
The Panthers won 28-18, 21-25, 25-21, 25-21 and had a 19-7 lead in the first game, but the Buccaneers kept hanging around.
“W-E-M stayed aggressive and never gave up coming back,” said Panthers head coach Jackie Schultz.
The momentum of the comeback carried through to the second set for W-E-M and the Bucs grabbed a set from NRHEG, just the second team to do so excluding tournament play.
Kacie Phillips tallied 45 assists, six kills and eight digs on the evening while Anna Schlaak put down 27 kills and had four blocks.
Alyssa Hagen had 11 kills and Jill Kalis eight.
The Panthers travel to Mankato Thursday to face Loyola.
