Roland Stiehl, 57

Roland Lee Stiehl, 57, of Haverhill, Mass., formerly of Albert Lea, died Saturday, Sept. 5, 2009, a the Merrimack Valley Hospital after a long and courageous battle with cancer that he contracted as a result of service to his country.
Born and educated in Albert Lea, Roland was the son of the late Marvin and Lois (Johannsen) Stiehl. Upon high school graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army where he proudly served as a lineman and communications specialist. A Vietnam War veteran, he served his first tour from April 1970 until February 1972. For the next 10 years he was employed using his electronic skills in the communications field in the private sector. In 1982 he re-enlisted and was honorably discharged in 1986.
Among his survivors he leaves his beloved wife of seven years, Mary (Worth) McCadden-Stiehl, of Haverhill, and her children, especially Patrick with whom he shared a special bond. Roland is also survived by his sister, Gloria, of St. Paul; brother, Dale and wife, Josie, of Albert Lea; nephews: Jeffrey of Albert Lea, James and wife, Patti, of Northwood, Iowa, and Toni and husband, Perry, of Fort Smith, Ark.
He was preceded in death by his dad, Marvin, in 1970; mother, Lois, in 2006; and nephew, Ronald, in 2002.
Roland was greatly loved and will be sadly missed by his family and friends and all who knew him.
