Delbert Burrell, 84

Funeral services for Delbert R. Burrell of Albert Lea, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the First Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. The Rev. Dan Baker will officiate. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 5 until 7 p.m. at the Bonnerup Funeral Service, and one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by the Albert Lea Area Veterans Groups.
Mr. Burrell died on Wednesday morning at the Lake Mills Nursing Home. He was 84 years of age.
Delbert was born July 14, 1925, in Jamesport, Mo., the son of Guy and Ollie (Long) Burrell. He graduated from High School in Gallatin, Mo. On Nov. 1, 1964, he was united in marriage to Carol Stanton.
Delbert had resided in Albert Lea for the past 60 years and was employed as a truck driver for Blanchard Trucking and LCL out of Austin, and Green Bay, Wis. Following his retirement, Delbert worked as a security officer at Farmstead in Albert Lea.
Delbert enjoyed cars and served Meals On Wheels. He played video games with his family and loved to talk with friends and play cards. Spending time with family always came first.
Delbert is survived by his children: Terry Burrell of Vancouver, Wash., Christine and her husband Dean Dagestad of Emmons, Scott Burrell and his friend Stacy of Belton, Mo., Shelly and her husband Gene Beaver of Albert Lea. There are two stepchildren: James Long of Minneapolis and Steven and his wife Laurie Long of Albert Lea. Grandchildren include: Michael Burrell, Dan Burrell, Jennifer Anderson, Barry Dagestad, Ryan Long, Shanna Breuer, Melanie Long, Lacy Long, Jaclyn Burrell, Lauren Edmunson, Lorna Beaver and Henry Beaver. There are five great-grandchildren: Kari Anderson, Jake Burrell, Megan Dagestad, Jillian Long, and Ava Long. One sister in law also survives, Patsy Burrell of Kansas City, Mo.
Delbert was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Carol, in 2008; son, James Burrell, in 1993; stepson, Paul Long, in 1977; daughter, Ginger Burrell, in 1945; stepmother, Esteline Burrell; and stepbrother, Francis (Gene) Burrell.
