Edith Schulenberg

Edith P. Schulenberg, age 88, of Wells, died Thursday, Oct. 29, 2009, at Parkview Care Center in Wells. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wells. Visitation will be Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery in Wells. The Rev. Kathy Fullarton will officiate. Arrangements are with Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells.

Edith was born July 9, 1921, the daughter of Bernard and Clara (Stadheim) Johnsrud in Bancroft Township, Freeborn County. She was baptized and confirmed at the East Freeborn Lutheran Church in rural Albert Lea. She graduated from Albert Lea High School and worked at various jobs throughout her lifetime. On June 13, 1947, she was united in marriage to Damon D. Schulenberg at East Freeborn Lutheran Church. Edith was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and WELCA. She was also a member of the Wells American Legion and VFW Auxiliaries. Edith was most proud of her role as the mother of eight, grandmother of 12 and great-grandma to six. She loved watching the Wells Wildcats, Minnesota Vikings and Minnesota Twins.

She is survived by her children, Sandy (Richard) Clayton of Northfield, Linda (James) Drager of Aitkin, Tom Schulenberg of Oak Grove, LeAnn (Roger) Hansen of Eugene, Ore., Chuck (Mary) Schulenberg of Wells, Al (Kathy) Schulenberg of Prior Lake, Dave (Tami) Schulenberg of Waconia and Don (Denise) Schulenberg of New Richland; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; one brother, Bernard (Donna) Johnsrud of Albert Lea; five sisters, Harriet (John) Menke of Bancroft, Iowa, Dorothy Magelssen of Decorah, Iowa, Cora Arnold of Owatonna, Janet (Herman) Stenga of Alaska, Barbara (Leo) Schultz of Victoria; brother-in-law, Vic Glantz of Albert Lea; many nieces and nephews along with their families.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Damon, one sister, Lila Glantz, daughter-in-law, Karen Schulenberg and two brothers-in- law, Darrel Arnold and Joe Magelssen.
