A homeowner on Ridge Road turned on the furnace Friday morning and soon smelled gas. A 9-1-1 call was made and the Albert Lea Fire Department and Alliant Energy responded.

DWI arrest made

Richard Charles Greer, 49, no address listed, was arrested by Albert Lea police officers after 6 p.m. Sunday for fourth-degree DWI after testing .13 and leaving the scene of an accident, according to the police report. Greer allegedly rear-ended a vehicle at the corner of Bridge Avenue and Hawthorne Street a short time earlier, the report stated.
