The funeral service for Giles Bert Motzko will be 2 p.m. Monday at Our Lady of Loretto Catholic Church, West Main Street in Brownsdale with the Rev. Dale Tupper Celebrating. Interment will be in the Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery in Little Falls at 11 a.m. on Tuesday.
Giles Bert Motzko, 77, died Thursday, Oct. 15, 2009, peacefully at his home in Brownsdale.
Giles Bert Motzko was born on Jan. 31, 1932, the son of Stanly and Mary (Classman) Motzko on a farm in Long Prairie. He graduated from Browerville High School in 1949, and from Staples Teachers Training in 1951 and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1951 to 1955. He graduated from Minneapolis Business College in 1959. Giles was employed in banking, insurance and auto sales since 1959. He retired in 2006. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, reading and woodworking. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, American Legion, Our Lady of Loretto Catholic Church, the church choir and the American Legion Chorus. Giles was married to Beverly Joarnt from 1957 to 1981. He married Joyce Maas in 1984. 
Giles is survived by his wife, Joyce; two brothers, Jim and Roy; five sisters, Edna, Octiva, Beatrice, Jeannette and Inez; children, Robert, Mary, William and David; stepchildren, Marie, Mike, Matthew, Marion and Mark; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Ellen; son, Jerome; and brother Norbert. 
Visitation will be 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Czaplewski Family Funeral Home at 302 Market St. SE in Brownsdale with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. There will be visitation from 1 to 2 p.m. at the church on Monday.
