Memorial services for Irwin Milton Lampman, age 77, of Albert Lea will be held at 11a.m. Tuesday at the Church of St. Theodore. The Rev. James Berning will officiate. Irwin died Thursday, Oct. 8, 2009, at St. John’s Lutheran Home after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
Irwin Milton Lampman was born on Feb. 13, 1932, to Harold and Leona (Hall) Lampman in Red Wing. He grew up in Red Wing and moved with his family to the Albert Lea area and graduated from Albert Lea High School. After school, Irv went to work for Dahl’s Grocery Store and then became a delivery driver for Hamm’s Brewery. Irv married Betty Tennyson and they had three daughters. Irv went to work as a driver for Krieger Beverage Co. and drove until his retirement. On Aug. 16, 1976, Irv married Barbara (Hoiseth) Wilson in South Dakota. Irv was a member of the Church of St. Theodore in Albert Lea. Irv was a very talented man, he enjoyed woodworking, drawing and watching and participating in a variety of sports. In his younger years, Irv was a Golden Gloves Boxer. He also had a beautiful singing voice. Irv was quick-witted and enjoyed conversing with a wide range of people. During his retirement Irv delivered Meals on Wheels to Alden.
Survivors include his wife Barbara; daughters, Barbara and husband Nick Christenson of Lake Zurich, Ill., Michelle and husband Dave Nelson of Albert Lea, and Debra and husband Tom Sniegowski of West Chicago, Ill.; grandchildren, Jennifer Fray and her husband Mark Sottilaro of Emeryville, Calif., Peter and wife, Lisa Fray of Oak Park, Ill., Katie, Alyssa and Kristen Nelson all of Albert Lea, Matthew Mcparland, Sarah and Nathan Sniegowski all of West Chicago, Ill.; great-granddaughter Kennedy Fray of Oak Park, Ill.; step-daughter Ronda and husband Ron Osborne of Tampa, Fla.; brothers, Tom Lampman of Wisconsin and Norman Lampman of Virginia; sisters, Pat and husband Dale Mangskau and Betty Angulo all of Albert Lea; in-laws, K.W. Hoiseth (Taka) of Leesville, La., Michael (Wanda) Hoiseth of Albert Lea, Richard (Judy) Hoiseth of Albert Lea and Kathryn (John) Knutson of Albert Lea.
Irwin was preceded in death by his parents; son Michael in infancy; brother James Lampman; sisters, Heraldine (Julian) Johnson and Ruth Ann Butenhoff; and mother-in-law, VaLorus Hoiseth.
